Almost half of the Forbes Global 2000 companies are members of CoreNet Global. The American non-profit organisation, based in Atlanta, represents real estate managers from fifty countries who together manage property worth billions. For its European summit at the Okura hotel in Amsterdam, 500 senior managers came together.

The keynote was about smart buildings and the new way of working, and what they mean for corporate real estate. The traditional office is making way for spaces where meetings through AR, VR and holograms are routine. The real change lies in technology that actively contributes to employees' health and wellbeing.

That is above all a matter of good leadership. The new workplace calls for new skills, and for answers to difficult ethical questions about monitoring employees and protecting their data.
