Floating smart cities with 6,000 passengers, where AI anticipates every need before you even know you have it. That was the image that opened the keynote at the Cruise Ship Interiors Expo in Hamburg.
In the hall were European cruise ship designers, architects and shipyard directors. What they build has long been more than just big boats. Cruise ships are becoming the most advanced hospitality environments in the world.
The keynote showed how modern cruise ships are turning into floating ecosystems in which everything is connected. Smart cabins adapt to passengers' preferences, AI concierges tailor the experience in real time, and integrated systems keep the journey running smoothly from start to finish.
The second half was about speeding up innovation: how a traditionally conservative industry can adopt new technology without losing its sense of luxury. The questions afterwards showed that this industry wants to lead innovation in hospitality rather than drift along behind it.
