The future of cruise ships

Cruise Ship Interiors Expo Europe (CSIE)

Imagine floating smart cities with 6,000 passengers, where AI anticipates your every need before you even know you have it.

That was my ice breaker at the Cruise Ship Interiors Expo in Hamburg, speaking to Europe’s leading cruise designers, architects, and shipyard executives. These aren’t just big boats anymore: they’re becoming the most sophisticated hospitality environments on the planet.

My keynote explored how modern cruise ships are evolving into floating ecosystems where everything connects: smart cabins that adjust to passenger preferences, AI concierges that personalise experiences in real-time, and integrated systems that create seamless journeys from boarding to disembarkation.

The second half focused on innovation acceleration—how a traditionally conservative industry can embrace emerging technologies without losing its luxury appeal. The Q&A afterwards revealed just how ready this sector is to lead hospitality innovation, and not just follow it.
