The future of security and ethics

As technology changes, so does what counts as fraud. Deloitte, one of the largest consultancies in the world, wanted its risk management to be ready for that.

Deloitte's internal ethics and risk team helps the firm's 5,500 Dutch employees find their way through rules that keep getting more complex. The team's challenge: seeing how new technology also brings entirely new kinds of risk.

The keynote showed how AI, blockchain and biotech disrupt business models and, at the same time, change the definition of fraud, privacy violations and corporate social responsibility. The team examined real scenarios: identity theft with deepfakes, algorithmic bias in hiring and money laundering with cryptocurrencies.

For Deloitte's advisers, understanding these risks on paper is not enough. Their clients expect concrete action.
