World Police Summit in Dubai

Opening Ceremony: The future of crime fighting

Some keynotes and meetings are particularly special. For example, Futurist Richard van Hooijdonk, the Dubai Police, and Interpol have been collaborating for some time during meetings and events organised by them.

This year, the World Police Summit was hosted at the Dubai Expo. And I had the honour of addressing more than 10,000 participants from the impressive stage during the opening ceremony of this enormous congress. In front of cabinet members, police commissioners from around the world, and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Crown Prince of UAE, I shared my vision on the future of security and the police organisation of the future.

A special memory is my conversation with the Crown Prince afterwards. During this summit, many suppliers and government departments presented innovations in the field of crime fighting. I saw various interesting projects related to self-driving police cars, drone technology, virtual reality, data forensics and technology for the recognition of people and objects. During the summit, we spoke about collaborative projects within the Dubai Police that will soon be underway.
