In brief
- The site measures visits with Google Analytics, but only if you said yes in the cookie notice. Click No thanks, or make no choice at all, and the site does not load Google Analytics and sets no measurement cookies. That measurement uses no advertising cookies.
- On 18 October 2026 we tested a local copy of the 66 pages that were about to go live. Without a click we found no cookies and nothing in browser storage (localStorage and sessionStorage). What the embedded services load, and what we found out about it, is set out below.
- Without a click, and without your consent to statistics, the site loads nothing from any other service. On 21 October 2026 we checked the 94 Dutch and English pages in the sitemap: your browser connected to this site's own server and nowhere else. A YouTube video only loads once you press play; WhatsApp only opens once you click it in the Ask a question window. You cannot sign up for the newsletter through this site at the moment.
- After pressing play we did find cookies and browser storage from YouTube. Below you can read what we found, and what Google itself says about their purpose and lifetime.
What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file that a website places on your device through your browser. Similar techniques, such as storage inside the browser itself (localStorage and sessionStorage), fall under the same rules. This statement covers both.
How we tested
On 18 October 2026 we opened a local copy of the 66 pages that were about to go live in the Chromium browser. Each test started in a clean browser with no earlier cookies, at a screen width of 1440 or 390 pixels. First we opened all 66 pages without clicking anything. Then, one by one, we opened what was then the WhatsApp button, clicked the newsletter sign-up and started a YouTube video. Sending an enquiry was not part of that test. The WhatsApp button has since been replaced by the Ask a question button, and the newsletter sign-up field has been taken off the site. So on 21 October 2026 we tested again, with no consent to statistics given beforehand: all 94 pages in the sitemap without a click, then the Ask a question window. Sending a WhatsApp message was not part of that test. The names and lifetimes of the YouTube cookies below come from the test of 18 October. Where we describe what a cookie is for, the information comes from the service itself, and we say so each time. A service can change its cookies later.
Cookies from this site
Without a click we found no cookies on those 66 pages, and nothing in localStorage or sessionStorage. If you choose That's fine or No thanks in the cookie notice, the site keeps that choice in localStorage under the name rvh-toestemming, together with the date you chose. After six months it asks again. The site needs this to remember your choice, and it is not sent to Google or to any other service. The fonts, images and background videos (such as the one at the top of the home page) are served from this site's own server. Without a click, in the test of 21 October 2026, your browser connected to that server and nowhere else.
The enquiry form only sends your details when you click send, and it sends them straight to our customer system, OnePageCRM. It is built so that your browser does not send or store any OnePageCRM cookies in the process. What happens to your details is explained in the privacy statement.
Cookies from other services
Statistics: Google Analytics
With your consent we use Google Analytics 4 to see which pages you look at and how you reached the site. Those figures help us improve it. We also count how many enquiry forms are sent successfully, and how often someone clicks WhatsApp, call or email in the Ask a question window. When an enquiry is reported, none of the form's contents go to Google, and a click in the window does not pass on your phone number, email address or message: the site does not know them. Google Analytics is provided by Google Ireland Limited.
The site loads Google Analytics only after you click That's fine, and from then on at every visit for as long as your consent lasts, which is six months. Without consent your browser makes no connection to Google for statistics, not even a cookieless one. After That's fine, Google Analytics sets two cookies on this site's domain:
- _ga: tells you apart from other visitors with a random number. Lifetime: 180 days after your last visit.
- _ga_390XMN6DFQ: keeps track of your visit to this site, such as when a session started. Lifetime: 180 days after your last visit.
In our test of 21 October 2026, exactly these two cookies were set after we clicked That's fine, each with a lifetime of 180 days. With no choice made, or after No thanks, they were not there, and the browser made no connection to Google for statistics. Google's default lifetime is two years; we have cut that to 180 days. Google signals and use for personalised advertising are switched off, and consent for advertising storage remains denied. According to Google, Google Analytics 4 uses your IP address to estimate your location, such as country and city, but does not store the IP address. That does not make the rest of the measurement data anonymous. Google may also process data in the United States; Google LLC takes part in the EU-US Data Privacy Framework for this. How Google handles this data is described in Google's privacy policy.
You can change your choice at any time with the Change cookie settings button at the top of this page. If you withdraw consent with No thanks, the site deletes the Google Analytics cookies and stops measuring. Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of what was measured with your consent before that moment.
Newsletter
At the moment you cannot sign up for the newsletter through this site. No sign-up field from a newsletter service loads, so no newsletter cookies are set on your device.
Ask a question and WhatsApp
The button at the bottom right, the Ask a question window and the QR code for WhatsApp all come from this site's own server. When we opened the window on 21 October 2026 we found no cookies, nothing new in localStorage or sessionStorage and no connection to any other service. Your device connects to WhatsApp, a Meta service, as soon as it opens the WhatsApp link: after you click WhatsApp, use WhatsApp Web or scan the QR code with your phone. From then on WhatsApp's privacy policy applies. Calling or emailing opens the phone or email app on your own device.
Videos: YouTube
The site only loads a video from YouTube when you press play. Without a click we saw no connection to YouTube. The player comes from youtube-nocookie.com, the embed that YouTube itself calls privacy-enhanced mode. Even so, after starting a video we found five cookies on the youtube.com domain:
- YSC: according to Google, a security cookie. Measured: a session cookie.
- VISITOR_INFO1_LIVE and __Secure-YNID: Google says these cookies may also be used for advertising, depending on your settings. Measured lifetime: 180 days.
- VISITOR_PRIVACY_METADATA and __Secure-ROLLOUT_TOKEN: we have not established exactly what they are for. Measured lifetime: 180 days.
In the player's localStorage, on youtube-nocookie.com, we found three keys: yt-icons-last-purged, yt-player-caption-persistence and ytidb::LAST_RESULT_ENTRY_KEY. We have not established their purpose or how long they are kept. While a video plays, your browser connects to several Google domains: youtube.com, youtube-nocookie.com, googlevideo.com (the video itself), ytimg.com and ggpht.com (images), google.com, gstatic.com and googleapis.com. How Google uses cookies is set out in Google's cookie policy.
Refusing or deleting cookies
You can always change your choice for Google Analytics with the button at the top of this page. The site does not show a separate notice for the YouTube player; the player only loads when you press play. In your browser settings you can block cookies from other websites and delete stored cookies and browser storage. Without a click our test found no cookies; after starting a video it found YouTube's. Videos may stop working if you block those; we have not tested that separately.
Changes
If anything changes on the site, or in the services that can use cookies or browser storage, we test again and update this statement. The date of the latest change is always at the top. If you have questions about cookies, email talks@vanhooijdonk.com.
